SPOT COLOUR/PANTONE
A spot colour is a specially mixed ink used in printing. Unlike 4 colour process, which creates colours by using layers of just 4 specific inks, spot colours are pre-mixed for each colour used in a publication. Spot colours are often used for stationery and also for metallic inks, which can’t be produced in CMYK.
‘Pantone’ is the industry standard colour matching system, identifying hundreds of colours by number.
