Flash is a format that allows animations with text, shapes, and images to be incorporated into web pages. Because the technology is mainly vector-based, Flash animations typically don't take up a lot of disk space. This means large animations can be downloaded relatively quickly. To view Flash content in a web browser, Macromedia Flash Player (which comes standard with most browsers now) is required.
